What this tool does

Answer 30 would-you-rather questions — 'a minute-by-minute itinerary or just go?', 'a gift card or a handwritten letter?' — and your choices are tallied on two axes, practical vs romantic and cautious vs adventurous, to give you one of 8 types. The result shows your type and description, how your 30 answers leaned, and your best and toughest matches, and every type has its own detailed page. Send a friend a dare link and they can play the same questions and see how many answers you share.

How it is calculated

Fifteen of the 30 questions add one point on the practical (P) vs romantic (E) axis only, and fifteen on the cautious (S) vs adventurous (A) axis only. Each axis has an odd number of questions (15), so there are no ties — the side you picked more often becomes your lean. If the two axis gaps add up to 14 or more, you get 'firmly' (E); otherwise 'fairly' (M). The type code is strength + practical/romantic + cautious/adventurous. For example, practical 10 / romantic 5 and cautious 9 / adventurous 6 gives gaps of 5 + 3 = 8, so you are MPS, the Get-It-Together Planner. Your best match is the type with only the practical/romantic side flipped; your toughest match has both sides flipped. There is no randomness: the same answers always give the same type. The dare link holds only a short code — your 30 answers packed into a 30-bit number written in base 36.

Things to know

Frequently asked questions

How is my type decided?

Fifteen questions each measure practical vs romantic and cautious vs adventurous; the side you chose more often is your lean on that axis. If the two gaps add up to 14 or more you get firmly (E), otherwise fairly (M), making a three-letter code. Your score on each axis is shown on the result screen.

How do I compare with a friend?

Use 'Dare a friend' on the result screen. When your friend opens the link and plays the same 30 questions, each answer shows whether it matched yours, and at the end they see how many answers you share, the list of questions you split on, and how your two types match.

My result changes every time.

An axis with a small gap flips if you change just one or two answers. It means you have both tendencies in similar measure, which is perfectly natural. The same answers always give the same result.

Is this a psychological test?

No. It is a 30-question game made by this site, not a validated personality test — meant as a conversation starter with friends, partners and colleagues.

A just-for-fun would-you-rather game, not a validated psychological test or diagnosis. Answers and results are not stored on the server.
